Deputy State Fire Marshals responded to the Esperanza Middle School at 22790 Maple Road in Lexington Park yesterday for a false fire alarm activation that was cause for evacuation of the school.
Investigators and school staff determined the alarm was activated by a 13 year-old female student at approximately 12:00 p.m.
The student was charged with False Alarm and released to the custody of administrative staff. The incident will be reviewed by the St. Mary’s County Department of Juvenile Services. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
