2007 was a horrible year in terms of highway safety; St. Mary’s, Calvert and Charles counties each had a large number of fatal wrecks and other serious crashes.
The region continues to have its fair share of crime, but new efforts by new sheriffs in Charles and St. Mary’s

counties are making a visible impact.
There is also much other good news to report from Southern Maryland (such as the fact that Marcel Brooks is Alive and Well); but good news headlines are never as big.
