Faster than a speeding bullet? Slower than a turtle in mud? Everyone can help struggling families become strong families by participating in the Chaptico Classic. The 23rd annual race and fun walk will take place on Saturday, Aug. 30. Serious runners compete on a 10K or 5K T.A.C. certified course described by Running Times as โ€œone of the best county road races.โ€ Kids 10 years and under can join the Chaptico Chase, the 100-yard dash that opens the event, while amblers can opt for a scenic three-mile walk along country roads.

After the race, enjoy a healthy snack as you cheer the top male and female runners as well as the top three racers in six age categories for each event. All participants receive a commemorative t-shirt and other goodies.

The Chaptico Classic benefits Alternatives for Youth and Families, which has been offering community-based therapeutic services to children and their families in Southern Maryland for 35 years. AYF represents a movement that is attempting to keep children in their community, close to their families and support systems, rather than sending them away to institutions.
