On Friday April 27, a candle, left burning, ignited a chair in the basement of a two-story home in Dunkirk.
The owner, 43 year old Christopher A. Aragona, 43, was at home at the time and discovered the fire. He attempted to fight the flames before firefighters arrived and sustained injuries to his left leg.
It took 36 responding firefighters 15 minutes to get the fire under control.
Aragona was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
The fire was ruled accidental and caused an estimated $500 in damage.
