Prince Frederick, MD – On February 7, 2016, the Giddy Up 4-H club gathered at the Calvert County Extension Office in Prince Frederick, Maryland to assemble and decorate over 100 Valentine’s Day cards.  The cards were made to hang on the doorknobs for each resident at the Calvert Pines Senior Center in Prince Frederick, Maryland.

On Valentine’s Day, the 4-Hers went to the senior center to deliver the cards.  There were many smiling faces when we walked into the lobby.  We sat and visited with the residents for a while. One resident told us she was in 4-H in North Carolina over 50 years ago. Her Dad raised hogs for the other 4-H kids to keep as projects and she did lots of sewing.  Another one had been very involved in 4-H with her daughters.  They were glad to see a program that they enjoyed in their youth was still going strong.

Before we left, we recited the 4-H pledge for them.  We waved good bye to the smiling residents and left with smiles on our hearts too.

Giddy Up 4-H Club is an active part of the Calvert County 4-H Program, and there are many other clubs in the county.
