On Saturday, May 16, a group of 47 people met at The Calverton School to run a 5K.
The proceeds that the event raised went to supporting the Calvert County Special Olympics. As it was a hot and humid morning, BB&T Bank was there to supply water to the runners as they crossed the finish line.
On the men’s side, Liam Garner flew through the track and finished first with a time of 21:26. Coming up after him was Conor McGirr with a time of 22:57. To round out the top three for the men, Stewart Mclean finished with a time of 24:45.
The first woman to cross the finish line was Wini Huxell with a time of 27:21. Aubrey Salby finished with a time of 29:08, and Mary Woodburn finished with a time of 29:21.ย
The Special Olympic Cheerleaders cheered on the runners as they crossed the finish line.
