At 6:50 p.m. Feb. 25, units from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash at the foot of the Gov. Thomas Johnson Bridge in Solomons.
James Weiss, 72, of Lusby, crossed the center line while driving on Rt. 2/4, just 200 feet prior to the bridge, striking a vehicle driven by Devanice Ball, 34, of Annapolis, head-on.
Weiss’ vehicle continued to travel after the first impact and struck another vehicle driven by Lauren Pitt, 18, of Hollywood.
Weiss was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ball and 6-year-old Beh Ya Ball were transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
All parties involved were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a contributing factor, police say.
The crash is being investigated by Cpl. Moschetto, of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office.
