COLTONS POINT, Md. — The annual Blessing of the Fleet event was hosted by the 7th District Optimist Club over the weekend, October 2 and 3. After not taking place last year due to COVID restrictions, the Blessing came back to St. Clementโs Island Museum in Coltons Point in full force this year.
On the first day of the two-day event, there were boat rides to St. Clementโs Island, where the Blackistone Lighthouse sits. There were various live performances by the Mid-Eastern Dance Troupe and the Vertical Dance Company.
Local musician Robbie Boothe started off the afternoon of music, followed by an exciting performance from the Amish Outlaws. A stunning fireworks show concluded the first day of festivities.
On the second day of the event, there were more boat rides to the Island and a fantastic parade showcasing local businesses and organizations. In the afternoon, Graceโs Dance Studio had a fun performance, and a Mass was held on the Island. A prize raffle finished off the event.
Throughout the two days, local craft, art, and food vendors were featured throughout the event.
The event is expected to return in 2022, sometime near the beginning of October. Stay tuned for future announcements.
