LEONARDTOWN, MD โSuperintendent of Schools, Mr. J. Scott Smith, announces the administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of July 8, 2015.
Mrs. Leslie Fancella has been appointed as Benefits Coordinator in the Department of Human Resources.ย Mrs. Fancella joined St. Maryโs County Public Schools in 2004 as a paraeducator at Mechanicsville Elementary.ย She has also served as a Parent Liaison and a Secretary to the Principal before moving to the Department of Human Resources as an Administrative Secretary and since 2013 served as a Human Resources Generalist.ย ย She earned her Masterโs and Bachelorโs degrees from Western Governorโs University.
Ms. Beth Ramsey has been appointed Principal of Captain Walter Francis Duke Elementary.ย Ms. Ramsey is currently serving as Acting Principal of Captain Walter Francis Duke Elementary School.ย Ms. Ramsey previously served as principal of White Marsh Elementary from 2012 through 2015.ย Ms. Ramsey has also served as an Assistant Principal at Banneker Elementary and George Washington Carver Elementary and an elementary teacher in Charles County Public Schools.ย She earned her Masterโs degree from Towson University and her Bachelorโs degree from St. Maryโs College of Maryland.
Mrs. Fancella and Ms. Ramey both begin their appointments effective Thursday, July 9, 2015.
Ms. Cheryl Long has been appointed Principal of White Marsh Elementary School.ย Ms. Long has served as the Academic Dean at Spring Ridge Middle School since 2006.ย Prior to serving as the Academic Dean, Ms. Long has also served as Instructional Resource Teacher and an elementary teacher since joining St. Maryโs County Public Schools.ย She has also taught 5th grade in Hartford, Connecticut.ย She earned her Masterโs degree from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and her Bachelorโs from St. Josephโs College.
Mr. Jeffrey DiRenzo has been appointed as the 12-Month Assistant Principal at Spring Ridge Middle School.ย Mr. DiRenzo joined St. Maryโs County Public Schools in 2006 as an elementary teacher at Hollywood Elementary and has also served as an Assistant Principal at Lexington Park Elementary and Greenview Knolls Elementary.ย Most recently, Mr. DiRenzo has served as Principal of Mechanicsville Elementary and Captain Walter Francis Duke Elementary.ย He earned his Masterโs degree from Chapman University and his Bachelorโs degree from Virginia Tech.
Dr. Jeffrey Walker has been appointed as the Assistant Superintendent of Supporting Services in the Division of Supporting Services.ย Dr. Walker has been employed with Calvert County Public Schools since 1992 having served as a School Counselor, Coordinator of Accountability and Testing, Vice Principal, Principal, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Director of Instructional and Informational Technology and Assistant Superintendent of Administration.ย He earned his Doctorate in Instructional Leadership from Notre Dame of Maryland University, his Masterโs degree from Loyola College and his Bachelorโs degree from University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Ms. Long, Mr. DiRenzo, and Dr. Walker will begin their appointments effective Monday, July 13, 2015.
The Board also appointed Mr. Michael Watson as the Principal of Leonardtown High School.ย Mr. Watson has been employed with Calvert County Public Schools since 2002.ย He has served as a teacher, Vice Principal, and most recently, as Principal at Patuxent High School.ย Mr. Watson earned his Masterโs degree from the College of Notre Dame and his Bachelorโs degree from Waynesburg University.ย
Mr. Watson will begin his appointment effective Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
The Board of Education appointed Ms. Sandy Imbriale as the Academic Dean at Chesapeake Public Charter School.ย Ms. Imbriale joined St. Maryโs County Public Schools in 1997 as an elementary education teacher at Hollywood Elementary.ย She has also served as an Instructional Resource Teacher and currently serves as the Curriculum and Instructional Specialist at Chesapeake Public Charter School.ย She earned her Masterโs degree from Western Maryland College and her Bachelorโs degree from St. Maryโs College of Maryland.
Ms. Imbriale will begin her appointment effective Monday, July 27, 2015.
The Board of Education also appointed Dr. Christine Hurley as a 10-Month School Psychologist in the Department of Student Services.ย Dr. Hurley has served as a Special Education Coordinator and School Psychologist in Minneapolis, Minnesota.ย She has also served as an independent School Psychologist before joining Calvert County Public Schools in 2014 as a School Psychologist.ย She earned her Doctorate and her Masterโs degrees from University of Minnesota and her Bachelorโs degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton.ย
Dr. Hurleyโs appointment will become effective Thursday, August 13, 2015.
