CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. — Yesterday evening, Helenโ€™s Cafe experienced a fire that caused minor damage.

At approximately 7:23 p.m. on June 16, first responders were dispatched to the โ€œFarmers Marketโ€ at the 29000 block of Three Notch Road in Charlotte hall for a building fire. The original call out was for a fire at the Charlotte Hall Farmer’s Market, however was eventually determined to have been smoke coming from the bathroom of the nearby cafe.

Crews arrived and located smoke showing from the right side of the commercial building. Firefighters deployed a handline, and knocked down a fire in a bathroom.

Crews opened up and checked the surrounding areas of the building for extension. With no extension found the assignment was scaled back to two engine companies and the rescue squad from Mechanicsville.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal has been requested to the scene to investigate.

This is a developing story. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them.
