California, MD— On February 7, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Dfc. A. Schultz responded to the Family Dollar Store parking lot at McArthur Boulevard in California for a reported assault.
When Schultz arrived on the scene, he made contact with the complainant who advised, “she and her two children were walking along the sidewalk towards Family Dollar while doing so, a female who was standing outside of the Family Dollar spit in the area of the two victims,” according to charging documents. “The female spit in the area of the two victims in a clear attempt to hit the victims with her spit. The victim was able to point out the female to me (Schultz) as she was still standing on the sidewalk.”
Schultz then made contact with the defendant who was identified as Laura Rose Kuhnow, 66, of Great Mills. Kuhnow advised, “she was having a bad day and doesn’t like children or people with blonde hair. Both victims have blonde hair and are children,” according to charging documents.
Kuhnow was charged with two counts of second-degree assault. At this time, Kuhnow does not have a scheduled court date. Kuhnow faces a maximum jail sentence of 20 years and or a maximum fine $5,000.
