Bonnie Leann Anderson
Prince Frederick, MD –ย A Calvert County grand jury has indicted a Prince Frederick woman on possession and distribution of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) as a result of a stop made in early May by a sheriffโs deputy. The stop occurred in the parking lot of a convenience store. A search of the vehicle yielded nearly 80 methadone pills along with over 10 other pillsโoxycodone and alprazolamโall contained in the same bottle. Over $200 cash was also discovered by police.
The accused, identified in court documents as Bonnie Leann Anderson, 24, was indicted on seven counts, including one count of CDS distribute narcotic, two counts of CDS possession with intent to distribute, three counts of CDS possession and one count of driving a motor vehicle on a suspended license and privilege. The distribution charges are all felonies.
According to the statement of probable cause on file in District Court and submitted by Cpl. Richard Wilson, on May 5 at 7:32 p.m. the deputy responded to the 7-Eleven on Hallowing Point Road in Prince Frederick โwhere a complaint was made about a possible drug deal occurring in the parking lot.โ Anderson was about to drive away in her truck when Wilson initiated a stop. The officer had received information from the control center that a check of the vehicleโs tags indicated the truckโs tags were suspended and that Andersonโs license was suspended.
Wilson informed Anderson he had stopped her due to a report of suspicious activity by her. The officer asked Anderson if she had any illegal items in the vehicle. Anderson stated she did not.
A search of Andersonโs purse, however, led to the discovery of a white pill bottle. Two separate folds of cash were also found. โThe amount of pills Anderson had combined with the variety of pills aroused my suspicions that she was involved in CDS transactions,โ Wilson stated. โThe fact that Anderson had separate folds of money only strengthened my suspicions. The totality of the facts led me to believe that crime was afoot.โย
Andersonโs next court hearing is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 8 with a pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 12.
