Hollywood, MD – Christmas is a season to be jolly, so the song goes. Well, there’s nothing jolly about risking your sanity and physical health by untangling a long string of Christmas lights, climbing a ladder, hoping the ladder doesn’t tip over leaving you hanging perilously from the roof, just a lost voice in a din of holiday cheer. Even if you succeed in getting the lights installed, there’s a chance at least one bulb is burned out. Admit it, you’d rather eat fruitcake.

This is the Christmas season to think about getting someone to install those lights for you. Now Southern Maryland has a duo of experts ready to deck your outside walls with a tasteful, bright and beautiful display. Cat and Andy Aubry moved to Southern Maryland from Los Angeles six months ago. While in California Andy made friends with a crew that installed lights on homes at Christmas time. He discovered the seasonal business could be lucrative since so many homeowners were too busy—especially at Christmas time— to put the lights up themselves. They were more than willing to hire a crew with the skill to climb atop roofs and coordinate colors to give their homes the perfect holiday look.

“People don’t want to get up on ladders,” Andy told TheBayNet.com. Cat and Andy did market research when they arrived in Southern Maryland and were surprised to learn that there is no business that installs holiday lights. Faster than a blinking Christmas light, Cat and Andy obtained the necessary licenses, insurance and permits, then started marketing their business—On Point Holiday Lighting.

Cat said estimates immediately started rolling in when the marketing campaign got started. “There seems to be a lot of local interest,” she said. “It seems like everybody wants to help us out.”

Andy explained how it all happens. “We come to your house, talk about design and budget,” he said. The estimate process takes about 20 to 30 minutes. An agreement not only includes installation but “we use our own product and equipment.” If a light or lights burn out, On Point will quickly replace it. There is no additional charge for maintenance. Then in January On Point returns to your house to conduct the removal of lights. As for the lighting, “we keep it and label it,” Andy said, adding that On Point will also connect the lights to timers.

“We prepare everything so it’s less hassle,” said Cat, who added that with On Point’s services, the homeowner no longer has to accumulate and store miles of Christmas lights. “It’s ideal for military families.”

While On Point is a seasonal business, anyone planning an outdoor party during the spring or summer will want to keep them in mind for all festive outdoor lighting needs. They install lighting on rooflines, roof peaks, sides, railings, columns, garages, porches, decks, trees, bushes, sidewalks and driveways.
