It is a major fundraiser for one of St. Mary’s County’s most important non-profit services and a holiday tradition wrapped up in one. This year’s Hospice of St. Mary’s Festival of Trees successfully transitioned to a new venue at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center in California.
On Saturday more than two dozen trees and 16 wreaths packed the center’s great hall and 40 vendors filled the large meeting room, as attendees were also entertained throughout the six-hour event. Food was available as was Santa to find out if the children had been naughty or nice.
Major sponsor for the event was Ausley and Associates. Each tree and wreath was also sponsored and attendees had a chance to vote for their favorite and the one they considered to be the most creative. And they could also bid to buy them. Creativity was indeed the operative word with such tree themes as Duck Dynasty, Celebrating the Red, White and Blue and St. Mary’s Now and then.
