At 11:59 p.m. Jan. 9, TFC J. Linger of the Leonardtown barracks observed a vehicle displaying expired tags. A check through MVA showed the registration/tags were suspended.
The vehicle was stopped on Route 247 and Busy Corner Road, Loveville, and the driver identified as Edward Sterling Brown, 39, of Chaptico. Brown was subsequently arrested for DUI, and a search incident to arrest was conducted. Crack cocaine was found in the ashtray.
Brown was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, charged with DUI, Possession of Cocaine, Driving with Suspended Registration, and held pending a bail review.
