After a busy Friday with several calls, Dunkirk rescue volunteers finished up with two more crashes to end the night; one of them resulting in a fatality.
At 2:25 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, volunteer firefighters and rescue personnel responded to a crash at Rt. 260 and Journey Drive for a report of a single vehicle into the woods.
Squad 5, Engine 52, Ambulance 58, Ambulance 59, Chief 5A (McAllister)ย quickly responded.
The Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department reports that units arrived on the scene to find an SUV that struck a pole andย tree. The driver was deceased upon arrival.
After clean up work, rescue unitsย cleared the scene at 4:53 a.m.
Calvert County law enforcement has yet to release any details on this crash. The Bay Net will report more details as soon as they are obtained.
