The Board of Education has a responsibility to maintain discipline and protect the safety, security, and welfare of its students, staff, and visitors.ย In addition, the Board must safeguard school property and equipment.ย ย As part of a multifaceted approach to fulfill this responsibility, the Board authorizes the use of audio and video surveillance equipment on school property.ย
Recently Calvert County Public Schools entered into an agreement with the Calvert County School Bus Contractors Association to augment the safety and security of all school bus riders through the installation of audio and video surveillance systems on school buses.ย The Board recognizes it must balance the rights of personal privacy with its duty to provide safe and secure environments.ย ย CCPS shall comply with all applicable state and federal laws related to audio and video recordings. ย
