On Friday, Jan. 14 at approximately 11:30 pm, the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad and Huntingtown Squad and ambulance responded to a reported overturned vehicle in the WAWA parking lot in Dunkirk.
The Dunkirk Squad found one crash victim entrapped and quickly handled the extraction of the driver and placed the Huntingtown Squad in service.
Dunkirk also requested a helicopter for fly-out of the driver in the white pickup truck.
According to witnesses, the driver of the white pickup was heading South on Route 4 and left the highway near the intersection of Route 4 and Ward Road. The truck then traveled across the grass area and struck a black pickup in the parking lot at WAWA. The driver in the black pickup was not injured.
The police are still investigating the reason for the accident.
