At 9:21 am on Saturday, April 15, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle on Route 237 at Military Lane, Great Mills, when the brake lights on the vehicle and trailer were observed to be nonfunctioning.
Upon contact with the driver, Devone Michael Thompson, 36, he advised he did not have a license. A check through MVA indicated Mr. Thompson did not have a license and his driving privilege was suspended and revoked. Thompson was placed under arrest.
The passenger, identified as Joseph Lavon Mason, 32, of Mechanicsville, was asked to exit the vehicle. A probable cause search of Mr. Mason revealed a cellophane bag containing cocaine in his front pants pocket. Mason was placed under arrest.
Thompson was charged with Driving while Suspended/Revoked. Mason was charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Both were taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bail review.
