MECHANICSVILLVE, Md. – An accidental fire destroyed a barn over the Independence Day holiday.
On July 4 at 11:40 p.m., crews from the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the saw mill located on the 27500 block of James Road, Mechanicsville for the report of a fire. Thirty-five firefighters battled the blaze for an hour before having the scene under control.
Investigation revealed that the fire was discovered by a sawmill employee after equipment ignited combustibles within the barn and set fire to the structure. The overall cost of damage caused by the fire is estimated to be $200,000.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire.ย
