California, MD — A potentially volatile situation ended peacefully in St. Mary’s County on Thursday.
Around 2 p.m. St. Mary’s County deputies and Maryland State Police troopers responded to a report of an armed suicidal suspect in 44700 block of Locust Ridge Court in California.
When they were unable to contact the individual, a barricade was declared and the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Team and the Critical Incident Negotiations Team (CINT) were dispatched to the location.
Negotiators were finally able to contact the subject around 7 p.m. The individual surrendered without incident, was taken into custody, and transported to an area hospital for an evaluation.
