Battered Woman Waits Until Abuser Snoozes to Jet

St. Mary’s Sheriff Deputies arrested Corey L. Hanson, 22, of Mechanicsville, on Nov. 20, on a charge of false imprisonment and second-degree assault.

The victim told Sdfc. K. Somerville she and Hanson were involved in a verbal altercation and he began assaulting her numerous times. Hanson then refused the victim’s repeated requests to leave and began assaulting the victim more, police say.

The woman was eventually able to leave the residence, after Hanson fell asleep, and called police.

Police found Hanson at the residence and placed under arrest. He is incarcerated in the Detention Center awaiting an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
