Annapolis, MD โ€“ State authorities are investigating an early-evening accident on the Chesapeake Bay that seriously injured a man using a personal watercraft (PWC). According to the Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP), the incident occurred Wednesday, July 6 around 8 p.m.in the bay at the mouth of the Magothy River and Baltimore Light in Anne Arundel County.

Police responded to the area after being notified by a witness about the accident. The man was discovered face-down in the water and unresponsive, police reports stated.

The PWC rider was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The manโ€™s name has not been released.

Witnesses have told police the man had been โ€œjumping wakesโ€ prior to being thrown from the PWC.
