North Beach, MD โ€“ Despite less than ideal conditions, a popular Twin Beaches Yuletide tradition occurred as scheduled Saturday, Dec. 6. The annual Pat Carpenter Holiday Parade started rolling at high noon in the bayside town of North Beach, as crowds of kids watched and marched in the event.

The parade is sponsored by the Bay Business Group. The grand marshal for the 2014 parade was former Maryland Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary president and Chesapeake Beach resident Clara Mae Buckmaster.

The parade culminated with the arrival of Santa Claus, who, as he traditionally does, rode on the back of the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department tower truck.

Due to the inclement weather, Santa and Mrs. Claus met with the children at town hall instead their sheltered spot on the North Beach Boardwalk Pavilion. The meet and greet with the Clauses was sponsored by the North Beach House and Garden Club and the Town of North Beach.

The parade was named in honor of Pat Carpenter, who had taken a lead role in organizing the event for several years prior to her untimely death in early 2012.
