Waldorf, MD–On October 23, 2016, at approximately 9:52 p.m., Troopers from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack responded to a collision on United States Route 301 in the area of Sub-Station Road, Waldorf, Maryland. As a result of the collision, a male bicyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene.
A preliminary investigation conducted by Troopers from the La Plata Barrack, with the assistance of the Maryland State Police Southern Region Crash Unit, indicates a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze operated by Rodrick Darnell Jones Jr, 19, of Brandywine, MD was traveling on northbound United States Route 301 in the area of Sub-Station Road. At the same time, a bicycle operated by Marcus Dejuann Jones, 44, of Suitland, MD attempting to cross the northbound lanes of United States Route 301. Marcus Jones entered the path of the Chevrolet and was struck. Marcus Jones was pronounced deceased on the scene.
