Tall Timbers, MD— On June 24, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Ball responded to Deagles Boatyard Road in Tall Timbers about an assault.

When Ball arrived on the scene contact was made with the victim, who advised his girlfriend physically assaulted him earlier that day.

The victim further advised they had been involved in a verbal altercation while at the Food Lion in Callaway.

The defendant, who was identified as Barbara M. Adams, 32, of Avenue, became upset, “due to it being her birthday and the victim asking her to purchase propane,” according to charging documents.

The victim was driving them to their residence, however, Adams wanted them to go to her mother’s house for her birthday. The verbal altercation continued and Adams advised she was going to shut off the victim’s cell phone.

The victim then grabbed Adams’ cell phone and threw it out of the vehicle. Adams then grabbed the victim’s right arm near the elbow causing a small laceration and redness.

“The verbal altercation was over the victim spending her money,” Ball stated in the charging documents.

Adams was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where she was charged with second-degree assault.

Adams at this time does not have a scheduled court date. Adams faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
