(Waldorf, MD., Apr. 3, 2017) โ With just 17 days remaining until the โ10th Anniversary Opening Nightโ presented by Wawa, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are excited to announce their 2017 Spring Training schedule. The Spring Training schedule will include two home exhibitions, the โCrustacean Celebrationโ presented by Elite Beatz, and the Community Caravan.
This Saturday, April 8, fans will get the opportunity to meet the 2017 Blue Crabs during the โCrustacean Celebrationโ presented by Elite Beatz. The festivities begin at 9:00 A.M. with a Breakfast with the Players at 9:30. This event gives fans the opportunity to reserve a seat in the Legends Club and enjoy breakfast with the Blue Crabs players and coaches. The fun continues through 2 P.M. as the team hosts games throughout the concourse, an autograph session with the team, and a chance for season ticket holders to pick up their ticket packages for the upcoming season. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the fun and festivities!
The team will host open tryouts at 12 P.M. on Sunday, April 9 at Regency Furniture Stadium. The Blue Crabs will then have their first official workout on Monday, April 10.
The Blue Crabs are welcoming media to the Ballpark on Tuesday, April 11. This will give local news outlets the opportunity to meet the team and coaching staff for the 2017 season. For information about this event and how to obtain a press pass, please contact Josh Owens at jowens@somdbluecrabs.com.
On April 12, the Blue Crabs team will hit the road in for the Community Caravan. The Community Caravan sends players, coaches, and staff out to the different counties of Southern Maryland to have a day of community outreach in support of local initiatives. The team will be visiting various locations including Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, Childrenโs Aid Society, and ARC of Southern Maryland throughout the day, working to serve the Southern Maryland area they call home.
Further preparing the team for opening night, the Blue Crabs will be hosting the York Revolution for their first spring training exhibition game on Friday, April 14 at 2 P.M. at Regency Furniture Stadium. The Blue Crabs will play four total exhibitions, traveling to York on April 13 and Lancaster on April 15. The teamโs final exhibition game will be Monday, April 17 when they host the Lancaster Barnstormers at 2 P.M. at Regency Furniture Stadium. All home exhibition games are free admission and open to the public.
