SUGAR LAND, TX –ย The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs blew a 5-0 lead and dropped to the Sugar Land Skeeters and dropped the series finale losing 6-5 at Constellation Field on Thursday night.

The Blue Crabs sent 11 batters to the plate in the top of the first inning and plated five runs to take the early lead on the Skeeters.ย  Blue Crabs wasted first baseman, Michael Snyderโ€™s three-run home run, his second home run of the series.ย  The Blue Crabs hit four straight singles against Skeeters starting pitcher Sean Gallagher with no outs to keep the fun going until third baseman Bryant Nelson struck out to end the inning.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Skeeters answered with three runs of their own.ย  Jeff Dominguez lead things off with a single, followed by a walk issued to third baseman Ricky Hague.ย  The next hitter Jeremy Barfield hit an RBI double to inch the Skeeters two runs closer to the Blue Crabs.

In the bottom of the fourth, Skeeters left fielder, Jeremy Barfield rocked a solo home run off Blue Crabs starting pitcher Daryl Thompson for his second hit of the night making it a one run game.ย  Second baseman Delwyn Young singled and designated hitter Travis Scott followed suit by hitting a two-run home run to make the score 6-5, to take the lead for good.

With their win tonight, the Skeeters snap a four game losing streak, however still losing the series against the Blue Crabs.ย  The Blue Crabs return home tomorrow for a six game home stand facing the Long Island Ducks for three games over the weekend and the Bridgeport Bluefish for three next week.ย  Tomorrowโ€™s first pitch is set for 7:05 PM.
