Waldorf, MD — In a special shortened seven inning game tonight at Regency Furniture Stadium, the Blue Crabs will a lot to celebrate as they beat the Camden Riversharks 5-1 in the rubber match of the three game set.

Gaby Hernandez (shown) was the big story of the ballgame.ย  The right hander pitched a complete game, seven innings, giving up a run, and allowing just two hits overall, while striking out six.ย  At one point in the ballgame, Hernandez retired 13 straight Riversharks hitters.

The Blue Crabs bats came alive tonight as well as Southern Maryland banged out 10 hits overall.ย  They scored a run in the first inning when Craig Maddox drove in Casey Stevenson from third with a single into left centerfield.ย  Southern Maryland would add a run in the second on a Gustavo Molina solo homerun over the leftfield wall.

Southern Maryland would pull away in the bottom of the sixth inning.ย  Craig Maddox would lead off the inning with a walk, followed by LHP Ryan Kulik hitting Fred Lewis in the back with a fastball.ย  Rob Bryson would come on to pitch out of the bullpen for Camden with Gustavo Molina walking to the plate.ย  Molina with a homerun back in the second, would connect with a fastball from the right-hander Bryson and deposit it over the wall in left for a three run homerun to bring the score to 5-0.ย  Jeremy Barfield would homer in the top of the seventh to get the Riversharks on the board, butHernandez was then able to finish Camden off to pick up the complete game.

The Blue Crabs hit the road next to take on the York Revolution in a four game set starting tomorrow.ย  The first pitch is set for 6:30.ย  RHP Anthony Lerew (1-1, 3.27) will throw for York, while RHP Brian Baker (0-0, 3.37) will start the game for the Blue Crabs.ย
