The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs extended their winning streak to seven games, as they swept the Camden Riversharks for the second consecutive time with an 11-8 score today at Regency Furniture Stadium. Starting pitcher Logan Williamson would tally his second win in as many starts as he allowed four runs (four earned) off of seven hits in 5 1/3 innings verse Camden. The Blue Crabs would stun the Riversharks early by collecting seven runs in the first inning as well as four doubles and two home runs throughout the contest. With the win and Long Island’s loss to the Sugar Land Skeeters, the Blue Crabs magic number now dwindles to two for clinching a playoff spot in the Liberty Division for the first half. 

Taking control of the game early, the Blue Crabs tallied seven runs off of seven hits, including a two-run home run by shortstop Renny Osuna for the 7-0 lead at the end of the first inning. Then after being silenced through the first four, Camden would score four runs in the fifth frame with a three-run home run from Chris Walker to boot, to cut the Crabs lead to 7-4. Southern Maryland would then add four runs in the later innings of the game. First in the seventh, Cyle Hankerd and Jose Julio-Ruiz would hit back-to-back home runs for the 9-4 score. The ‘Sharks would answer back with one of their own in the eighth, but Southern Maryland would add another two in the bottom of the inning. Again Camden came within striking distance in the top of the ninth as they had the tying run at the plate, but only managed to score three runs for the 11-8 final. 

UP NEXT – Southern Maryland opens up a five-game set (doubleheader Tuesday) against the Lancaster Barnstormers starting Monday at Regency Furniture Stadium.
