The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs let a 7-0 lead evaporate losing to the Somerset Patriots 10-7 on Tuesday night at Regency Furniture Stadium.

The Blue Crabs scored four runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Jamar Walton scored on an RBI groundout by Angel Flores, and Angel Sanchez hammered a two-out two-run homer to left center.

The power surge continued in the third. Dโ€™arby Myers launched a solo bomb that cleared the mini monster wall in left field. Two batters later Zach Wilson cranked a two run homer to left field hitting the top of the clubhouse to pad the lead 7-0.

After cruising through the first five innings, the Patriots chased Blue Crabs starting pitcher Daryl Thompson in the top of the sixth after giving up four runs, three of them earned. Thompson left the game after striking out three batters, giving up nine hits and putting in five and one-third innings of work.

The Patriots tightened the score in the top of the sixth when they scored four runs on six hits.ย  Somerset tied the score in the seventh when Bryan LaHair laced an RBI double down the left field line to score Eggleston, pinch runner Scott Kelly scored on a wild pitch and then LaHair scored on Fields RBI single.

The Patriots came on strong in the eighth when they took the lead against the Blue Crabs for good. Mycal Jones led off with a walk, Kelly and LaHair hit back-to-back RBI doubles to pour on more runs.

Patriotโ€™s Matt Fields belted a solo home run to secure the win in the ninth inning and the Blue Crabs couldnโ€™t come fire back any more runs and dropped the second game of the series.ย  The Blue Crabs will look to win the finale of the series tomorrow night.ย  Great seats are still available at Regency Furniture Stadium.ย  For tickets, log onto somdbluecrabs.com, or call 301-638-9788.ย  The game broadcast will be available as well on youtube.com, Southern Maryland Blue Crabs page, and on allinbroadcasting.com.ย  It all starts at 6:30 P.M. with โ€œBlue Crabs on Deckโ€ followed by the live play-by-play broadcast at 7:05 P.M. with Blue Crabs Broadcaster Jim Tarabocchia.
