WALDORF, MD.—The Blue Crabs were looking to avoid a sweep after giving up the first two games of the three-game series to the York Revolution. Left-hander Brian Burres only gave up two runs on four hits, but the Crabs bullpen gave up four more runs in the seventh and eighth innings to give York the win.

Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning. Antoan Richardson and Eric Garcia drew back-to-back walks, and Gary Brown lined a base hit to left field to score Richardson and put the Blue Crabs up 1-0.

Left fielder Kevin Rivers led the seventh inning off with a walk and Michael Rockett singled to center field. Third baseman Bryan Pounds hit a sacrifice fly to advance Rivers to third, and Rockett reached scoring position on a wild pitch. Catcher Keith Castillo doubled to right field to plate both runs. The next two batters in the order, Josh Wilson and Jared Mitchell, walked to load the bases. Brandon Chaves singled to left field and Joel Guzman was hit by a pitch, scoring two more runs. Ian Marshall entered the game for Navery Moore, and allowed the Revolution to tack another run before ending the inning with York leading 5-1.

Angel Flores and Antoan Richardson led off the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back base hits, and Eric Garcia doubled to deep left field to score both runs. Bryant Nelson and Angel Sanchez both walked, but the Blue Crabs were unable to bring home any more runs, and trailed the Revolution 5-3 going into the top of the eighth.

In the next frame Rockett doubled, Pounds singled, and Castillo flew out to deep center to put another run on the board for the Revolution. Eric Garcia singled in the bottom of the ninth, but the Blue Crabs couldnโ€™t come up with any more runs and lost the final game of the series to the Revolution 6-3.

After an off day tomorrow, Southern Maryland will hit the road to face the Lancaster Barnstormers and Somerset Patriots before returning home to Regency Furniture Stadium on Monday August 15th.
