The Alcohol Beverage Board met Thursday August 13 in the Chesapeake Building to deal with violations and new liquor license applications.

One establishment with pending violations, Butler’s Place, has postponed their review until Sept. The other, Donovan’s Pub, sent representatives Marlene Donovan and Jessica Stamm before the board to answer to two June 6 violations.ย

A sale of alcoholic beverages to a person under the age of 21 occurred when a patron was carded and produced a fraudulent California driver’s license. Police at the establishment charged the underage drinker but the pub was not penalized for the offense.ย

The second violation, allowing patrons to drink outside the premises, was also overlooked by the board. Ms. Donovan made attempts to stop the patron who left the pub with alcohol in hand that night and stated she has since posted additional no outside drinking signage around her building and now has someone patrolling the exterior and parking lot. Donovan’s had no previous violations and no penalties were assessed from the June 6 incidents.

ABB’s other business included conditionally approving liquor licenses to new and established restaurants, including the Lexington Park Restaurant & Lounge, a new Callaway eatery called Gridiron Grill and the Coffee Quarter. The board took the time to talk to restaurant owners, ensuring they understand the requirements for serving alcoholic beverages and getting details about the atmosphere and intent of the business.
