On Saturday, March 11, experienced and novice bowlers alike filled the Drill Hall Bowling Center between 1ย p.m. and 10ย p.m. to support a very worthy cause, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Southern Maryland.ย
The Bowl For Kids’ Sake is a funย fund-raising event held annually for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maryland in Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s Counties.ย Charles Countyโs eventย took place onย Sunday, March 5, and the Calvert County event is coming up Sunday, March 26. Participants are able to register or find out more about Big Brothers and Big Sistersย by visiting their website.ย ย
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maryland, Inc (BBBS-SM) is a private non-profit organization serving youth in Calvert, Charles and St. Maryโs Counties through the provision of a one-to-one mentor. Mentoring services are part of the proven program model of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the oldest national mentoring institution, founded in 1904 and evolving to meet the changing needs of todayโs youth. The programs are particularly gearerd towards supporting at-riskย youths – academically and socially –ย including children absent parents due to divorce, incarceration, or other factors.ย Big Brothers and Big Sistersย are partnered with their “Littles” on an individual basis to be a friend, be a mentor and to “just be there,”ย and to help the children and young adultsย to make positive life choices.
