UPDATE – Cycle rider flown out as a precaution

UPDATED AT 9:12 p.m.

Valley Lee, MD – Reports from a witness at the scene of an accident Friday evening indicate a passenger on motorcycle fell off of the bike while traveling on Piney Point Road. The motorcycle was traveling at a low rate of speed. The unidentified female rider is reportedly being flown to a Washington, DC area hospital as a precaution. The injuries to the rider do not, at this time, appear to be life-threatening.

No other vehicles were involved.

The roadway has reopened and St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating the incident.

 Valley Lee, MD – Shortly after 8:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 4, emergency personnel in St. Mary’s County were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. The crash occurred on Piney Point Road in the area of Oliver Road in Valley Lee.

Sources report a helicopter has been requested.

Motorists should avoid the area.
