On Saturday, Oct. 5, after playing in a lacrosse game at St. Mary’s College, a 49 year-old male collapsed and rolled off the bleachers. The man had stopped breathing. That is when two young men took action. Kevin O’Malley, a freshman lacrosse player at the college, began chest compressions, while his brother, Patrick O’Malley, began mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Maryland State Police Trooper 2 was requested but later cancelled due to the patient’s instability. The stricken man was transported via ground to Med Star St. Mary’s Hospital. Emergency medical services personnel report the cause of the man having stopped breathing remains unknown at this time.
