Waldorf, MDโAfter a grueling loss on Friday night, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs bounced back to even the series at one a piece defeating the Long Island Ducks 2-1.
Blue Crabs center fielder Gary Brown brought the big bat on Saturday night at Regency Furniture Stadium, mashing his second dinger in two nights to help the Crabs improve their record to 6-10 for the second half of the season.
Blue Crabs starting pitcher Daryl Thompson kept it together, just as Bruce Kern did in the opposite dugout, each allowing just one run in six innings.
Long Islandโs first baseman Mark Minicozzi drove in the first run to score third baseman Cody Puckett in the second inning. The Blue Crabs scored in the bottom of the frame on Puckettโs throwing error, which allowed first baseman Zach Wilson to score from second.
Blue Crabโs right fielder Dโarby Myers kept his hitting streak alive extending it to 19 games when he laced a single to right field in his first at-bat of the game.
Much like Darin Downs did to the Blue Crabs on Friday, Daryl Thompson contained the Duckโs power-hitting lineup, limiting Long Island to just five hits and one run over six innings and received a no-decision and Blue Crabs reliever Scott Maine picked up his first win of the season.
The Blue Crabs and the Ducks will play the finale of the three-game set tomorrow afternoon at Regency Furniture Stadium.ย
