Lady Luck was following a special Charles County family around Maryland this week. Good fortune came from the Maryland Lotteryโs Keno game and from a slot machine at MGM National Harbor.
The winners, who are using aliases to share news of their good fortune, were attending a business lunch at Texas Ribs & BBQ in Waldorf when they decided to play Keno. โDaddy Dave,โ his family including daughter โRaeโ and a family friend, โCat,โ used eight numbers chosen by โRaeโ for their Keno wager. They placed an 8-spot bet for 20 drawings and added the Super Bonus option.
โI like the 10s and thatโs what we played,โ said โRae.โ Their lucky numbers were 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80.
The group had to go back to work at Clinton Fence Company so they didnโt learn the results of their games until later. โAfter work, I headed home,โ said โDaddy Dave.โ โThe rest of them went to the MGM National Harbor for a little more fun.โ
โRae,โ her mother and โCatโ were enjoying slot machine fun when, to their surprise, they won $2,500. With much excitement, they went to cash out their slots win and โRaeโ remembered their Keno ticket from lunch. She scanned it using the ticket checker and the group experienced an even bigger surprise. The scanner revealed a $100,350 win. โRaeโ called her dad right away to share the great news.
โI didnโt believe them,โ said โDaddy Dave.โ โThey had to send me a picture of the message (on the ticket scanner.)โ
โDaddy Dave,โ โRae and โCatโ claimed the big prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. Plans for the winnings include paying bills, donating to charity and saving the rest of the windfall.
This lucky family is not the only winners in this story. Also getting a prize is Texas Ribs & BBQ located at 108 Smallwood Village Center in Waldorf. The Lottery retailer will receive a $1,003.50 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize
