“Look Through Any Window”, November’s group show at the CalvART Gallery, features three photographers:ย  Lonnie Harkins, Kevin Higgins, and Alyson Schwartz.ย ย  While the three share similar subject matter, includingย  the natural world, each one brings to his/her art a unique vision.ย  As famed photographer, Ansel Adams said, “You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” This photographers’ group show at the gallery in Prince Frederick will be on display from November 5 to November 30, 2014.ย ย ย

The theme for the show, “Look Through Any Window” comes from a 60s song by the Hollys. The photographers chose it to emphasize the variety of places where we can find the beauty of nature both great and small, and also highlight the various perspectives of these three artists.

An artists’ reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 8th.ย  The public is invited to visit the gallery, enjoy refreshments, and talk with the photographers about their craft and what inspires them.ย  Lonnie Harkins, a a 20-year retired Navy veteran, likes to photograph abstracts and macro photography sometimes using the power of the computer to create wild effects.ย  Kevin Higgins, a retired firefighter, enjoys taking photos from his Boston Whaler, offering a unique vantage point to capture birds and landscape while he trolls the bay. Alyson Schwartz, an instructor at Calvert High, enjoys clean lines and bright colors in subjects from sunrises to the beach to the woods.

The CalvART Gallery is located in the Prince Frederick Shopping Center at the intersection of routes 4 and 231 nestled between the Sakura Restaurant and Dreamweaver Cafe .ย  The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.ย  Starting November 28th, the gallery will be open every day until Christmas.ย  For more information, go to www.calvartgallery.org, or call 410-535-9252.ย  The CalvART Gallery is a program of the Arts Council of Calvert County.
