During the week of December 23 – 29 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 997 calls for service throughout the community.

Theft: 19-74391
On December 25, 2019 Deputy R. Shrawder responded to Dowell Road in Solomons for the report of a theft. The complainant advised that sometime between 7:30pm and 9:30pm on December 24th, an unknown suspect(s) stole their purse from the back of their chair. The value of stolen property is $120.

Theft: 19-74518
On December 26, 2019 Deputy Mason was notified of a theft that occurred at Southern Branch Library in Solomons. The complainant advised that on December 21st they entered the library for a short time, leaving their backpack outside. When they returned, an unknown suspect(s) had stolen their medication from inside the backpack.

Theft: 19-74741
On December 27, 2019 Deputy Sturdivant responded to Walmart in Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The complainant advised that an unknown male suspect entered the pharmacy area of the store and took a marijuana drug test kit from the shelf, then entered the bathroom with the drug test kit and used it without paying for it. The value of stolen property is $12.63.

Arrests:

Jon Robert Letcher

On December 24, 2019 Deputy Wilson was notified by Calvert County Emergency Communications of a vehicle entering Calvert County displaying a stolen Maryland registration.

Deputies located the vehicle at the BP Gas Station in Dunkirk and made contact with the driver, Jon Robert Letcher (55), who was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Theft Less Than $100.


Taesha Selena Johnson

On December 27, 2019, Deputy Crum responded to Dad’s Garage in Owings for the report of a motor vehicle theft. The complainant advised that a female subject entered the rear business lot and attempted to enter a vehicle without authorization.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact and detained the female subject, Taesha Selena Johnson (19). Johnson used bolt cutters to remove a steering wheel lock in an attempt to drive the vehicle off the lot.

Johnson was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle, Theft: $25,000 to under $100,000, 4th Degree Burglary, and Malicious Destruction of Property Valued < $1,000.

 


Charles Melvin Gross

On December 28, 2019 Deputy Crum conducted a traffic stop on Southern Maryland Boulevard at Lyons Creek Road in Dunkirk.

The occupants were removed from the vehicle and a search was conducted which resulted in a syringe and a blue bottle cap with suspected Heroin residue. A search of the passenger, Charles Melvin Gross (65), was conducted which resulted in a syringe containing suspected Heroin, a bottle cap with burn residue, a small plastic bag containing suspected Heroin and two Q-tips with burnt residue on the ends.

Gross was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession- Not Marijuana, CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, and CDS Possess/Distribute Administer Equipment.

 

 


Crystal Kay Sweeney     –      Nathan Oliver White

On December 28, 2019 Deputy Rzepkowski responded to the 7-Eleven on Old Town Road in Huntingtown for a suspicious vehicle and possible CDS activity. Upon arrival the subjects, Crystal Kay Sweeney (38) and Nathan Oliver White (38), were standing outside the vehicle and a search was conducted which resulted in a copper wool pad and a glass vile with suspected PCP inside.

A search of White resulted in glass smoking pipe with suspected crack cocaine residue, three white rock-like substances suspected to be crack cocaine and a glass vile containing suspected PCP. White was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.

Prior to entering the facility, Correctional Deputy Windsor conducted a second search of White which resulted in a plastic baggie containing suspected crack cocaine. White was charged with CDS: Possession- Not Marijuana, CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of Contraband in a Place of Confinement.

Sweeney was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.
