It remains to be seen which direction Calvert Countyโs bond rating will go–up, down or nowhere, like a Big Apple elevator.
Last week the Calvert County Commissioners and several county government officials traveled to New York City for their annual meeting with three bond rating houses on Wall Street.
Currently, Calvert has a AAA bond rating from both Fitch, and Standard and Poorโs, while Moodyโs rates the county Aa1.
It was while visiting Fitch that 12 people, including the Calvert entourage, became trapped in an elevator of the 18th floor. According to Commissioner Evan K. Slaughenhoupt Jr. [R], the group was stuck in the elevator for 40 minutes.
โEverybody got along with us fine,โ said Slaughenhoupt. โIt was an adventure, a bonding experience.โ
โThereโs nobody Iโd rather be stuck in an elevator with than you guys,โ said Commissioner Steven R. Weems [R].
Slaughenhoupt and Weems said the trapped elevator riders were able to make cell phone calls to subsequently summon help.
