On display in the lobby through January 1, 2013
The Calvert Marine Museum is proud to present a seasonal Holiday Art Show featuring the artwork by students at Our Lady Star of the Sea School (OLSS) in Solomons, Maryland. On display in the museum lobby through January 1, 2013, see works of watercolor, paper, and collage. Stop in during the Solomons Christmas Walk on December 7 and 8 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Our Lady Star of the Sea School was founded in 1933 and is a fully accredited, co-educational Catholic School for children in Pre-K through 8th grade. The Art Program has been under the direction of Lori Smith since 2001 and is assisted by Lana Clews. Not only do the students meet weekly for art classes, but they have the opportunity to participate in an afternoon Art Club throughout the school year. Art students participate in many community outreach programs including projects and cards for the nursing homes, armed forces, and the Paper Crane project for Japan. Their drawings are often printed in the Jr. Saint’s publication by the Catholic Standard newspaper.
