ย A Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office patrol vehicle was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the 2009 Ford Crown Victoria marked patrol vehicle was parked unattended on Walnut Road in Port Republic. The accidental fire originated near the dashboardโ€™s electrical component.

The vehicle was valued at $9000. Its contents, valued at $1,000, were also destroyed.

Someone nearby discovered the fire and called 911. The St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched and it took five firefighters five minutes to bring the blaze under control. There were no injuries as the result of the fire.
