The Calvert County Board of Education (BOE) approved several administrative changes during its June meeting. Among the changes was Dr. Ramona Crowleyโs appointment to principal at Barstow Elementary School (BAES). Crowley, whose career in education spans 40 years, has served as principal at Huntingtown Elementary School (HES) for the past 23 years.
Donna L. House, who has served as BAESโ principal since the school opened six years ago, will become the new principal at Mutual Elementary School (MES). House succeeds Lisa Wisniewski, who is retiring.
The new principal at HES will be Brock Fulton, currently the vice principal of BAES.
Additionally, Plum Point Elementary School (PPES) Principal Joyce King has been appointed Calvert County Public Schoolsโ (CCPS) supervisor of Primary Education. Beth Morton has been selected as the new PPES principal. Morton is currently serving as a vice principal at Huntingtown High School.
The BOE appointed Kelly Griffith principal at Windy Hill Elementary School (WHES) and Kelley Adams principal of Plum Point Middle School (PPMS). Griffith is currently PPMS vice principal while Adams is WHES principal.
In May CCPS announced Patuxent and Appeal elementary schools would be uniting to comprise โThe Patuxent/Appeal Campus,โ with Appealโs principal Charles Treft serving as principal for the consolidated school. Patuxent Elementary School Principal Cheryl Johnson is retiring.
The appointments all take effect Tuesday, July 1. On that same day, Dr. Dan Curry will assume the reins as CCPSโ new superintendent of schools. Interim Superintendent Nancy Highsmith has been appointed acting director of the school systemโs Title IX and Equity Compliance.
