
The home of the Szeszulski Family was judged Chesapeake Beach’s 2014 Brightest Beacon on the Bay.
Chesapeake Beach and North Beach, MD โ Calvert Countyโs two bayside municipalitiesโNorth Beach and Chesapeake Beachโhave continued their Christmastime traditions of applauding residents and businesses who brighten up the area.
Prior to the Thursday, Dec. 18 Chesapeake Beach Town Council meeting the Brightest Beacon on the Bay contest winners were announced. Connie OโDell, the townโs special events coordinator, said in addition to prizes for houses, townhouses and businesses, judges also awarded prizes to two boats. The โPleasure Boatโ winner, Thrifty It Ainโt is owned by Captain Jim Thrift. The vessel has a large snowman aboard. The โCharter Boatโ winner is The Worm. The vesselโs captain, Drew Payne was given the award. The Worm is decorated with Christmas lights and a โblow-up Santa.โ
The judges deemed Traderโs Seafood, Steak and Ale to be the best decorated business, followed by Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa, with third-place awarded to Beverlyโs Gifts and Flowers.
Judged the best decorated houses were: first place, the Buchalter Family; second place, the Kuhns Family; and third place, the Wesley Donovan family.
The brightest townhouses, as selected by the panel of judges, were: first place, the Richmond Family; and second place, the Coffman Family.
The top prize, The Brightest Beacon on the Bay, was awarded to the Szeszulski Family.

OโDell thanked the many local businesses who provided an array of prizes for the winners.
The North Beach Holiday Highlight winners were announced last week.
In the โBusinessโ category, the winners are: first place, The Wheel Clothing Store; second place, Sisters Corner; third place, Beauty by the Bay; and honorable mention, Westlawn Inn.
In the residential category, the winners are: first place, Lyn Gonder and Peter Davis; second place, Jamie Flores; third place, Harry and Linda Klein; and honorable mention, Joe and Suzanne Ezell.
All North Beach winners are invited to attend the town councilโs Thursday, Jan. 8 meeting to receive their prizes. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
