Prince Frederick, MD – A Calvert County man was indicted twice by a grand jury last month in connection with sex offense incidents involving two minorsโ€”both femaleโ€”that allegedly occurred last October, court records stated. The defendant is identified in court documents as Derrick Wayne Walton, 31 of Prince Frederick (pictured. above).

In one indictment, Walton is charged with two counts each of third-degree sex offense, fourth-degree sex offense, contact; and second-degree assault. In the second indictment, Walton is charged with one count each of third-degree sex offense, fourth-degree sex offense, contact; and second-degree assault.

According to an application for statement of charges filed in District Court by Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office Detective Justin Livingston, Walton was arrested Feb. 9 and interviewed by police. โ€œMr. Waltonโ€™s behavior was discussed throughout the interview,โ€ Livingston stated. โ€œMr. Walton stated he has short-term memory loss from a heart attack he suffered. Mr. Walton also stated he suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID), also known as multiple personality disorder. I asked Mr. Walton if he was ever diagnosed with DID and he stated no. I believe Mr. Walton was attempting to come up with a defense to his actions. Mr. Walton stated he has never been diagnosed with any disorder by a medical doctor.โ€

Livingston stated in court documents that he advised Walton that he (Livingston) was in contact with a Child Protective Services investigator, who had been investigating allegations of โ€œinappropriate contactโ€ he had with one of the girls. โ€œMr. Walton is adamant that his intentions were never sexual and he only accidentally touched [the] juvenile[s],โ€ Livingston stated.

A status conference regarding the indictments is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday April 17 in Calvert County Circuit Court. Walton is being represented by Luke Woods of the Office of the Public Defender.
