Prince Frederick, MD – In a tradition that has marked the 14-year tenure of Sheriff Mike Evans, the Calvert County Commissioners hosted a swearing-in ceremony for two new deputy sheriffs Tuesday, Feb. 28.
โThis practice provides a venue for the new deputies, their families, friends and fellow deputies, the [Calvert] Board of County Commissioners, and general public to commemorate this special occasion in a most memorable way,โ stated Assistant Sheriff Major Dave McDowell in a memo to the commissioners. The new deputiesโKamrhen Parks and Bruce Sampsonโwill formally graduate from the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy Friday, March 3.

Parks (pictured with Sheriff Evans at top) and Sampson (pictured with Sheriff Evans above) were sworn in by Jackie Hawkins of the Office of the Calvert County Clerk of the Circuit Court.
โItโs nice to have a few new deputies on the street,โ said Commissionersโ President Tom Hejl [R – At large], who previously served as assistant sheriff. Hejl noted the new deputies will have approximately 10 weeks of training prior to going on patrol.
