Camp Counselors Assault Camp Attendee

On August 8, 2012 police units responded to Camp Brown, located in Scotland, Maryland for the report of an assault.

Upon arrival the officers spoke with a camp administrator who reported a camp attendee, 10 year old male, stated he had been assaulted by three camp counselors during his stay at the campground in July of 2012.

BCI was contacted and assumed the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, BCI detectives established probable cause that the victim was assaulted on July 25, 2012 and three suspects were identified. 

Shane D. Baptiste, age 19, of Washington D.C. was charged with Assault 2^nd Degree via a Criminal Summons.  Two additional 17 year old juvenile male suspects, who reside in Washington D.C., were identified and referred to juvenile services for further legal action by juvenile authorities.
