St. Leonard, MD – Throughout the week of Aug. 3, the St Leonard Volunteer Fire Department is holding a fire camp for middle school-age children to teach them about fire safety.
There are currently 28 kids enrolled in the camp, and they are split into four teams. They have different activities regarding fire safety for each team.
They have three activities a day. In todayโs activities, Solomons fire chief Joe Ford taught kids how to tie different types of knots.
Inside, some fire fighters from the Dunkirk department taught campers how to repel down the wall, and in the lounge. St Leonard fire fighters taught campers the basics of CPR.ย
When asked if they were enjoying camp so far, the campers collectively shouted that they were.
