St. Mary’s County emergency personnel were dispatched at 8:32 p.m. Saturday for an accident on Route 235 at Buck Hewitt Road in Lexington Park. A silver Ford Mustang was traveling northbound on Three Notch Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to jump the curb, hit a tree, narrowly missing a utility pole, and ended up facing traffic in the ditch.
No serious injuries were reported, however, the driver was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. Speeding was reportedly a factor in this crash and a citation was issued to the driver.
